SYNOPSIS
"ANIMA - My fathers dresses" is a film by director Uli Decker about family secrets, gender roles, love and a childhood in the Bavarian provinces.
Little Uli wants to become a pirate or the pope, but in no way does she want to fit into the role stereotypes of her Bavarian village. After her father dies, her mother hands her his "secret" box as an inheritance.
The contents suddenly change her view of her father, herself, her family and the society in which she grew up. She opens up the diaries and herself for a dialogue with her deceased father, with whom she kept a strange distance during his lifetime. The result is an almost anarchic film, full of humour, fantasy and sensitivity about identity, love and gender issues, which tells the story of a family and a society at the same time. A rollercoaster ride through animated and documentary imagery.
